So, what’s this book about?

The Bernie Boom and political stratification have left many asking the question, “What happened to the Revolution?” Millions came out to support Sen. Bernie Sanders’s bid for the Presidency in 2016. His race blossomed a new generation of activists eager to throw the system on its head and shake up partisan politics with a new non-corporatized independent wave of energy and excitement.

Thousands of starry-eyed activists joined the plethora of new Bernie-momentum organizations in the hope that “we can make REAL change.” After eight years of social media insanity, grifting, fracturing, and non-stop election mania, many of us find ourselves cynical and exhausted.

I’m an Appalachian from poverty and was one of those ardent dreamers who believed we were building a revolution. I worked behind the scenes as a Communications staffer for organizations like Brand New Congress, Justice Democrats, third parties, and directly with more than ONE HUNDRED U.S. Congressional campaigns, including Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, and Cori Bush. Eight years later, I too am asking myself, “What the hell happened to the revolution we were promised?” Nobody brought the ruckus but a lot of dollars were earned by those capitalizing on our hopes, dreams, and fears, yet most of us can barely keep a roof over our heads, or not at all.

I got flung into a fractured, sometimes hilarious world of Tankies and Trotskyists, Progressives and Anarcho-Libertarian Leftists, Blue No Matter Who’s and DemExiters, MAGA Communists and Anti-Fascists, debate bros and YouTube essayists. I waded through gish-galloping grifters galore, but also met so many amazing community organizers that truly give a damn.

I’ll be exposing the grifters. Opening up the wounds of the massive letdowns (apologies in advance), and giving a glimpse behind the curtain of the crazy that is the “left” in politics in the U.S. today.
